Well since it has been announced that we are leaving Afghanistan many Afghans are struggling to escape. Especially the ones who assisted US Armed Forces and NATO Forces. President made the announcement during a classified briefing. When Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was asked by a lawmaker what are the plans to evacuate those that helped us he simply stated “We’ll get back to you on that”
It is a real shame and I think the U.S. has now lost credibility, more so than it already has with this administration. Why would any other country that we may need to go assist trust us anymore? I can see it already that we will have to go back to Afghanistan again in the coming years as the Taliban are tightening their grip on the country. I know we cannot stay there forever with a large force. However we cannot just pack our bags and haul ass like we did at Bagram Airfield. We just left in the middle of the night and did not alert the local forces that we were leaving. All the equipment that was left behind will most definitely fall into the hands of the Taliban. One video shows Afghan Special Forces surrendering to the Taliban only to be gunned down as soon as they lay down their weapons. It will not be to long before we see people being executed in soccer stadiums like they did before we showed up.
So now that we are leaving I have to wonder how long until we have to go back and start this nonsense all over again. It is going to cost us more than we can imagine not just in dollars but in more blood, sweat and tears. I know that the Iranians we get their claws into the country and terror camps will start popping up all over the country. Iran is watching with a close eye waiting to make their move. Hell, those bastards lived across the street from the small compound I lived in for almost a year. As they are one of the biggest sponsors of terrorism it is only a matter of time.
My heart goes out the all those Afghans that are trying to flee for what they know will be their impending doom. The Taliban will tell them all will be forgiven but the truth is as soon as they can, all those people that assisted the United States will cease to exist. It will go back to the way it was such as no education for girls/women (they will become ghosts again under their burkas), public executions and destroying anything the Taliban finds “Offensive”.
It really is a shame and I am embarrassed for my country and ashamed for how we are leaving this country to the brutal terrorists that are the Taliban.
