2022 Midterm Elections and beyond With election season ramping up will Trump’s rhetoric hurt Republicans. Former President Trump has been attacking allies, lately Florida Gov Ron DeSantis, calling him “Dull”.
President Trump did a lot for America, decreased America’s debt, brought jobs back, lowered taxes. America had the lowest unemployment in years (until COVID hit). However lately it seems the former President is attacking Republican politicians that were on his side.
Take Florida Gov Ron DeSantis, Trump started attacking him for not being forthcoming with his vaccination status. Why do this? There is already a big divide among people on the right about the COVID shiot (It’ NOT a vaccine). Why do this? With the FL Governors popularity so high right now all that trash talk is just going to hurt Republicans. You have voters who are die hard Trump fans and die hard DeSantis fans. Creating a divide in the Republican party is the worst thing to do in my opinion.
2022 Midterm Elections
The Midterm elections are a make or brake for the Republicans. Even with President Biden and Vice President Harris’ polling numbers at a historic low, Republicans can still loose. When there is to much in fighting within the party the average voter will not know what to do. You can nit pick candidates stances on the issues and will surly find a subject you do not agree with. This is where the problem is.
Many voters are die hard Trump fans. They take every word he says for gospel. God forbid you disagree with this thought process, you get labeled a wimp, coward, dull or even worse a traitor. If Trump really wants to run again in 2024 he needs to unite the Republican Party and stop creating a divide. Full disclosure, I voted for Trump both times. He was the only choice and a good one. Thankfully he beat Hillary Clinton in probably the biggest upset in election history. This makes me smile still today.
As for the 2020 Elections, Trump should have won in my opinion. Even though it has not been proven that there was massive fraud, I think something was rotten in Denmark. To many questions like how was Trump winning by a huge lead, then in the middle of the night all of a sudden he is loosing by a landslide. Just does not add up.
If Trump does not learn how to play nice with Republicans that do not agree with him and trash them at every turn, he could cause the Republican to take control of Congress and the Senate in 2022. Trump’s biggest flaw is that if you do not agree with him 100%, he takes it as a personal attack on him. I was taught by an awesome NCO in the Army, “Pick your battles”. You can’t fight everyone about everything. It just can’t happen.
If there is truly to be a Red Wave in 2022 all Republicans need to get their acts together. Enough with the in fighting, and that does include former President Trump.
2024 Presidential Elections
Everyone knows Trump will most likely run for President again in 2024. If he does not make nice with his fellow Republicans it will be very tough. Again, it goes to “pick your battles”. Eventually voters will get tired of Trump trashing good Republicans and the Republican Primaries will look like a Jerry Springer episode.
The way Trump talks, it reminds me of a phrase in President Bush’s speech before a Joint Session of Congress, “You are either with us or against us”. That is the tone that seems to resonate throughout Trumps speeches and comments.
Look I like Trump but I do not take everything he says as the end all be all of a political topic. Instead of being a bull in a china shop, slow it down, take a breath and listen (really listen) to ideas that may differ from your own. I think this would go a long way and better Trump’s chances in 2024 if that is what his end goal is.
So what will we see with the 2022 Midterm Elections and beyond, one can only guess. The political environment right now is so unstable with everyone bickering with themselves who knows what 2022 and 2024 will bring. All we can hope and pray for is that Republicans take back the House and Senate to undo the damage done by the Democrats. We really need to get this country back to greatness and become a powerhouse again.
