Former Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer was assaulted in Oakland, CA this past week. The 80 year old former Senator had her cell phone stolen as she was assaulted. The incident occurred in the Jack London Square neighborhood of Oakland.
Thankfully it seems she will be alright. Being a Conservative myself I wish no harm to come to anyone, well except maybe….just kidding really no one. Crime rates across the country are skyrocketing as the defund the police movements are still going on. California is really becoming a rather nasty place to live in my opinion. Crime, homelessness, rampant and overt drug use is the new normal for this “progressive” state.
The leaders in Sacramento have completely failed the citizens of the state and bind their hands when it comes to defending themselves. Hence, almost impossible to carry a firearm in the state. Even if you have a good reason, no record etc it can take almost a year to get approved if you are fortunate enough. This of course does not hold true if you happen to be let’s say, a Hollywood Elite, buddies with someone high up in govt or just have enough money that you have “donated’ to the right campaign.
I see crime almost daily while living in Southern California. When I walk my dog, I see drug needles, clothing, shoes you name it that have been stolen from stores across the street. The tags from new merchandise are all over the pathway almost every morning. There is a homeless camp a quarter mile away under a state road bridge. It is a rather large encampment. I know that crime in my area has increased in the almost 3 years I have lived here. Just a few weeks ago in a condo complex, 37 cars were broken into in one night. Drug needles are showing up in areas where people take their dogs to play along the river. Not to mention the numerous fires that caused by these people. At night when I take my dog out for her last walk of the evening, many times there is someone sitting on one of the benches smoking crack.
Despite the complaints the city of San Diego does nothing about it. The police have their hands tied when it comes to the homeless camp. It is located on state property so you know Dictator Newsom will not allow the problem to be cleaned up. Now I am sure some of the people in this camp are actually homeless and are having a rough time, whether it be mental illness or whatever. However, most of the people living are reported as being drug addicts. There are plenty of homeless shelters that are nowhere near full, however if you are a drug addict like most of these people are, you’re not going to go there because there are rules to follow. Almost every night as the sun goes down, all these people seem to leave the camp and head out into the streets to do God know what.
If all goes well in the next 2 months, I will escape from behind enemy lines to a place where I can actually not be in fear of going out at night just to walk my dog. Also I will be able to defend myself if necessary. I by no means am looking for a fight or confrontation, just want to be able to defend myself if need be. Of course I would always try to walk away, diffuse the situation but if need be, I am walking away, not my attacker. I hope I never have to put that to the test.
