Supreme Court Issues 2 Rulings in Favor of Conservatives

The United States Supreme Court issued two rulings this morning. Both rulings were 6-3 along party lines. The first case involved reversing a California requirement for charities to release names and addresses of their top donors to the state. The other involved Arizona’s voting law which restricts ballot harvesting (other than a family member, caregiver, mail carrier or election official) and disqualifying provisional ballots that are cast in the wrong precinct.

Two Conservative groups, Americans for Prosperity Foundation and the Thomas More Law Center were at the center of the ruling. They feared that donors in CA would be reluctant to contribute to the Conservative charities for fear of name and addresses being released publicly or hacked leading to retribution from far left groups in the form of harassment or boycotts of businesses etc.

The second ruling ruled in favor of Arizona’s voting law that criminalizes the submission of another person’s completed ballot by a third party, other than a family member, caregiver, mail carrier or election official. The other rule disqualifies provisional ballots that are cast in the wrong precinct. Of course the The Democratic National Committee decries that the rules are improper because they disproportionately harm Native Americans, Hispanics and Black voters, and that they violate the Constitution’s First and 14th Amendments for placing an undue burden on minorities’ ability to vote…..What a surprise

I have no opinion one way or the other about the release of donor information, I can see both sides of the issue. As for the AZ voting laws I think the court was right to rule in favor of the state. The Democrats argument is weak at best, the idea that Native Americans, Hispanics and Black voters are incapable of getting their votes counted is ridiculous. Are we to believe that they do not have the mental capacity to fill out a ballot and put it in the mail for the postal service to pick up or to have a family member drop off a ballot at legally established polling station. Just goes to show that the Democrats and the far left have a low opinion of “minority” voters.
