Sir Richard Branson has fulfilled his childhood dream of going to space. I watched it live and it was I have to admit, exciting. He set out to make his dream a reality and being a rather wealthy person he had the clout to accomplish it.
You could see the excitement on all of the newly pinned astronauts faces. That has to be the most exciting thing a person could do in this day and age. The flight lasted 59 minutes from takeoff to landing, what a thrill it must have been. The spacecraft went into a sub-orbital flight reaching 55 miles (88km) above the Earth’s surface.
I really do hope that he can bring the thrill of space travel to the masses. I suspect that will be some time before ordinary people will be able to afford it. He did mention that people can sign up for a flight, I think for free via a lottery system. I can imagine that there will millions of people that want to sign up to be apart of this new exciting venture. I know for one I would love to travel into space if only for a brief period. To see Mother Earth below in all her splendor is something I could only dream of. Maybe now that could become reality me and many many others. Of course I seem to remember the price being around $250K. Sooo I will have wait till they have a Groupon or maybe a Labor Day sale or maybe I could write Sir Richard and say My Lord, I will leave you a glowing Yelp review if you hook me up with a flight!
I wish Sir Richard Branson and his entire team the best and hope that they continue to innovate to make the experience better. Who knows, maybe someday you can turn to your wife, husband, partner etc and say “Let hav dinner in space tonight, I am tired of the old restaurants.
