Vladimir Putin war criminal. That is what the world is saying after deliberate and constant attacks on civilians.
It amazes me that after all the rhetoric from Vladimir Putin about not targeting civilians when the invasion started, seems to be all Russia is doing. It has been reported that at least 26 Medical facilities have been attacked. Most notably the Maternity & Children’s Hospital.
Why target civilians
One can only speculate on the motives of continually attacking civilian targets. Maybe Putin is angry that his “Special Military Operation” is not going the way he would like. I am sure he predicted that his invasion would be easy and would only take a few day. Little did he expect the fierce resistance Russian forces are encountering.
Another thought is if you demoralize the civilian population and bomb them into submission the war will end quicker. Since the Russian mentality is one of strength, this seems to be the (in their eyes) the best solution to their stalled attempt to control the Ukraine.
What is Putin’s end game
What is Putin really trying to accomplish? Many think he is trying to rebuild the Soviet Union. With all the countries that gained their independence Russia is a shell of the vast empire they once controlled. With a few of the former Soviet controlled countries now members of NATO, he can’t actually think Russia take back all the countries and territories they once controlled.
Will Putin face charges for war crimes
Many countries and world leaders are calling for Putin to be charged with war crimes for his indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets. Even if the international court in the Hague charge him there is zero chance he will own up and go to trial. His ego is to big and he will just say he does not recognize the authority of a international court. So what will become of Vladimir Putin war criminal? I have to go with…nothing.
In a surprising move President Biden called Putin a war criminal. I cannot believe he actually said it. This is certainly going to cause a lot of friction between the United States and Russia. Even when/if Russian forces withdraw from the Ukraine the damage is done. Biden cannot take back those words. Cordial relations between our 2 countries is now something in the past.
