The State of the Union Address tonight in a much anticipated moment as Republicans now control the House of Representatives. Which means Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy will be right there. The Republican response will come from Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
What will be addressed and what will not? Almost certainly the debt ceiling, economy, immigration (not illegal immigration) and police reform. The first 3 topics are an almost guaranteed as they are addressed in most SOTU speeches. Based on the invite of Tyre Nichols’ parent being invited, police reform has to be included, why invite them and not address it.
What will not be addressed? I have to go with, China’s spy balloons hence National Security. We all know they never intended to shoot the balloon down until public pressure mounted. By then it was to little to late. The current opioid crisis. Which ties into the border being secure, but he will not mention that part of illegal immigration and what comes along with that.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders will give the Republican Response which I hope is respectful but no holes barred. Gov Sanders needs to point out the hypocrisy and the BS that will certainly spew from the President’s mouth.
I plan on watching unless a new episode of Tulsa or something else comes out, kidding. One thing I can see happening is the Democrats going for a record applause when President Biden enters the House Chamber. This State of the Union address will certainly be interesting, I wonder how many groups of people Biden will try and pander to this go around? Let the countdown begin.
