Pete Buttigieg needs to go. There I said it and stick by this statement. He is an inept Transportation Secretary. That has failed at every major crisis that falls under the transportation industry. Here is a little history of our Secretary of Transportation.
Military Service
In the Navy Reserve he deployed to Afghanistan for seven months, he states he had a few jobs in Afghanistan, one being an “ARMED Driver” for his commander. Really, armed driver???? Who wasn’t armed over there??? Gotta beef up that resume.
I can respect him for serving his country. Just be proud of what you did without hyping it up for hyperbole. It goes on to say Petey has jokingly referred to his role as an armed driver as “military Uber”, ok he had to watch out for ambushes and explosive devices along the roads and ensure that the vehicle was guarded. Everyone had to do that! It’s not like his jobs was G14 classified or he was some super sailor.
Mayor of South Bend, Indiana
He gets elected as Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. In 2011.Before Petey took office, Jiha’d Vasquez, a 16-year-old black male, was found hanging from an electrical tower on April 14, 2011 Vasquez’s backpack, on the ground near his body, had several items missing, according to Vasquez’s mother Stephanie Jones. Coroner, Chuck Hurley, who had no medical experience, claimed Vasquez’s death was a suicide; Petey later appointed Hurley to serve as interim police chief. Vasquez’s body was cremated without an autopsy being conducted. Ms. Jones attempted to get Petey to investigate her son’s death, but he did not. According to Ms. Jones, Petey told her to call his office, but she never got a response
National Political aspirations
After 2 terms as mayor he moved into the big time political arena in 2015. Campaigning for State Senate nominees, endorsed Hillary Clinton. President Obama said he was one of the party’s talents. Again building up that political profile. In 2017 he took a crack at becoming the Democratic National Committee Chairman. On the day of that election, he withdrew since he no chance of winning. Now it’s 2019 and Petey wants to be President of the United States. So in January of 2019 he announced he was forming an exploratory committee to run for President, which really means he wants to run for president. He ran a campaign and did alright but finally dropped out in March of 2020.
Appointed Secretary of Transportation
On December 15, 2020 President Elect Biden nominated Petey as Transportation Secretary. Which of course the Senate confirmed with a vote of 86-13. I and almost everyone else knew we were in trouble with this guy at the helm. He started in with talking about racism in every aspect of the Transportation industry right out the gate.
Jump to COVID in 2021 and supply chain issues. We all know how that went, with reports of dozens if not hundreds of ships just sitting outside harbors unable to dock causing shortages of consumer goods.
Absentee Secretary
He was out of the loop for the supply chain crisis on Paternity Leave. For the first month, he was offline except for issues he could not pass off. His paternity leave lasted for 2 months. I understand people need and should take some paternity leave, however when you are in a position of national importance, especially during the worst supply chain crisis in history, you need to step up. That is part of public service, you put the needs of the country over your own needs.
In 2022 with a rail workers strike looming he took a trip to Portugal. Even if this trip was planned well before again, you are in public office and have to make sacrifices. President Biden and the rail workers unions reached a deal which fell apart.
He did make a video which he posted talking about a New Airline Customer dashboard and said nothing about the his participation in the rail workers negotiations, which I am sure he had little to do with. What did we expect, we can’t ask him to work while on vacation.
Now it’s 2023. The airline industry was and still is in a tailspin. Cancellations are more than we can count. Airlines are publishing schedules they know dam well they cannot keep. There was a 106 minute national shutdown of domestic flights, delaying thousands of flights. If the airline industry was already on his radar why did this happen and he did nothing again to act? The public is getting tired of committees or panels being formed AFTER a crisis happens. It really is just a waste of more taxpayer dollars.
Of course, Democrats have jumped to defend him. They have to, he is the Golden Child of the Democratic Party. Biden pollster, John Anzalone, defended Petey as a “fucking hero” to airline passengers in an interview with POLITICO. Democrats will defend him at every turn. They cannot afford not to, it would mean they made a mistake and failed at something.
East Palestine, OH
We have all heard about the train disaster in East Palestine, OH. It took roughly 2 weeks for Petey to even acknowledge the disaster. He was to busy talking about how there are too many white construction workers, now that were not his exact words but I think anyone can infer what he was saying. Which lit up a firestorm of criticism. One of the first things he says about the derailment is wait for it…….we all knew it was coming…..It’s Trump’s fault. When you have no explanation for your ignorance inept ability to handle the position you were appointed to, the Biden Administration’s go to answer is of course to blame former President Trump. FOR EVERYTHING.
Buttigieg just needs to resign
This guy has no business being in charge of the Transportation industry in America. He is not qualified. Going to Harvard, serving in the Navy, being a Mayor of a small city does not constitute being qualified to run a national transportation system. All he has done is bring up race during his time as Transportation Secretary.
