College athletes getting paid to play while still in college, good or bad?

It is something that has been talked about for years. College athletes getting paid to play for example, college football. Colleges/Universities make HUGE sums of money from sports and in turn make money off the players. Georgia, Florida and Alabama have passed laws that allow NCAA athletes to profit while in school. The law goes into effect on July 1, 2021 in all three states.

Some argue that the players should make some money as well, for their likeness, name image etc. I see the supporters point, why not make some money while in university. They are obviously good at the sport they are playing so a little green in their pockets is a good thing, right???? I have to say I am not on board with it.

These players are in college, their sole focus should be to get the best education possible. If they happen to be great at a sport, then they will most likely be drafted by a professional team when they graduate.

Yes, the college/ university may have recruited them out of high school however I have to go back to, you are in college to receive an education first and foremost. What good is making a lot of money if you have zero idea how to manage it. Some will argue, hire someone to do all that. That is fine and dandy but what happens when they hire the wrong person, and all that money disappears. If you had finished school and had some knowledge of how your money was managed, it could have been avoided.

Again, sorry for those who disagree but I think the players main focus should be on getting an education instead of how they can make the most money while I am still in college. If they focus on money their education will certainly suffer. Just my opinion.
