President Biden’s SCOTUS Nominee

SCOTUS Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson

President Biden’s SCOTUS Nominee has been announced. Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

Who is Ketanji Brown Jackson?

Ketanji Brown Jackson is currently serving on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She has served their since June of 2021 after being nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate on June 14, 2021 in a 53-44 vote.

Ms. Jackson attended Harvard Law School, where she was a supervising editor of the Harvard Law Review. She graduated in 1996 with a Juris Doctorcum laude. She also worked as a staff reporter and researcher for Time magazine from 1992 to 1993. Jackson is married with 2 children.

Why Ketanji Brown Jackson

As President Biden’s SCOTUS Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson checks some boxes that Biden thinks will improve his poll numbers and deliver on his promise to nominate a Black Female to the bench. President Biden’s promise to only consider a Black Female to the bench was met with mixed results. Of course the progressives loved the idea. Republicans and some Democrats met this with skepticism. The claim was that Biden was in fact breaking the law when considering and announcing only one race/gender would be considered.

Sadly this will create a cloud over Ms. Jackson’s nomination and will call into question her qualification to be on the U.S. Supreme Court. Look, she may be fully qualified to be on the highest court in the land but the way she was chosen will make many people believe she was only nominated and confirmed (Should she be confirmed) because of the color of her skin and her gender. I would not want to be in her position of always being thought of as a pawn to raise the ratings of a failing President and have people wonder if I was really qualified to hold the position of a Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. I do not believe this is fair to Ms. Jackson. President Biden in my opinion was only thinking about himself and not what was best for the country.

If Ms. Jackson is confirmed I wish her the best and hope she puts the country first above political nonsense.
